Four Chord 11 Festival
It was an amazing experience to be part of Four Chord Festival 11, a two-day rock music festival which takes place annually in Pittsburgh, USA.
The organisers asked me to create social content in the build up to the big weekend, designing promotional giveaway and competition posts to help gain traction on the Four Chord Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok channels.
I was also lucky enough to be flown out to Pittsburgh, where I filmed and produced social content on-site, including artist interviews, fan interactions, and various live sets over the weekend. It was a surreal experience working alongside some of my favourite bands growing up, including the likes of AFI, Alkaline Trio, Blink 182, Jawbreaker, and Jimmy Eat World. Below are some examples of the videography and social content I produced.
Pre-Festival Social Content
In the run up to the event, the festival asked me to create social posts for promotional purposes and to build followers on their social media channels.
These ranged from teasers, line-up announcements, prize giveaways and competitions. I utilised a blend of motion design, video, music and kinetic typography, mixing Four Chord and partnership branding to create deliverables that delivered messaging in a short-form, attention-grabbing format.
On-site Coverage
I flew from London to Pittsburgh to film and produce social content for both pre-festival and on-site during Four Chord 11 weekend.
I had fun brainstorming ideas with the content team, including dressing them up as headliners Blink 182 and AFI to perform short sketches, a festival grounds site tour, interview ideas, and ways of documenting all of the action over the weekend. As well as behind the scenes trip to Pittsburgh Today Live to help promote the festival.
Interviews & Performances
I was also booked to capture artist interviews and performances over the weekend.
None of this was without its challenges, including noise interference from stages, technical issues, and working against the clock, hot weather, and chaos of a two-day rock festival. However, a lot of preparation, along with thinking on our feet and adapting plans helped greatly whenever problems occurred.
I edited shorter interview clips quickly on-site, to be posted that same day, whilst others were cut with live footage and saved for post-festival content, keeping the Four Chord social channels active during downtime.
